NY Carry Class

This 18 hour class satisfies the requirements to obtain the New York CCW permit for residents and non-residents. Obtaining this permit allows concealed carry in the state of NY as per NY carry laws. This class will consist of both classroom work as well as live-fire shooting. This class will be held over 2 days.

Prerequisite

There are no pre-requisites for this course, but you are expected to be proficient and safe with your firearm.

Course Details

New York CCW Requirements:

  • Attend a 16 hr in person live classroom instruction that covers the following:
    • General Firearm Safety
    • Firearm Safe Storage
    • State and Federal Gun Laws
    • Situational Awareness
    • Conflict de-escalation
    • Adverse effects of alcohol and drug use
    • Best Practices when encountering Law Enforcement
    • Sensitive Locations
    • Conflict Management
    • Use of Deadly Force
    • Suicide Prevention
    • Basic Principles of Marksmanship
  • Attend a 2 hr live-fire training course and Qualify on a live-fire proficiency assessment
  • Pass a written test with a minimum score of 80% 

***(No guns or ammunition will be allowed in the 16 hr classroom portion)***

**You must be a United States Citizen or a Permanent Resident Alien (Green Card Holder) to take this course**

*As per NY CCW requirements, Non-Residents need to be fingerprinted at 1 Police Plaza or Long Island City to the Rifle and Shotgun section to get fingerprinted*

What To Bring

  • Drivers License
    • CANNOT be expired
  • Note Pad
  • Pistol (**NY Residents w/out a firearm see below**)
  • 50 rounds of factory loaded ammunition
  • Eye & Ear Protection
  • Holster

If you do not have a firearm one can, be rented for the 2 hr portion of the class

Any person who is not otherwise permitted by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where they may lawfully possess and carry such firearm, if during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle.

Cancellation Policy

We require at least 48 hours’ notice if you cannot attend a class that you signed up for. With 48 hours’ notice or more, you can reschedule for a later date or be refunded in full. With LESS THAN 48 hours’ notice, you can reschedule the class one time OR be eligible for a 50% refund of the amount paid for the class. With less than 24 hours’ notice you are not eligible for a refund. There will be a fee of $25 to reschedule for a later date. Once you have signed up for a class and do not show up or give proper notice, you will NOT be eligible for any refund.
